I always hear people saying what we "shouldn't" be doing as Christian Women. Some of the things they are talkikng about is not supported by scripture. So, why can't I make my own decisions about whether or not I do these things. Why is it an issue? No one can seem to answer my question other than saying it's not right!
And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through (separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God): and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete (and found) blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
(the Messiah, 1 Thessalonians. 5:23)
It is up to us to surrender ourselves to the Lord so he can have a perfect work in our lives (Hebrews 13:20-21). Remember we are saved to reflect who God is in the earth realm. We are in covenant so he can be glorified in and through our lives. We must make a decision to allow it to take place. We will either be directed by Holy Spirit or the Flesh. God desires us to be led by him. The flesh walk will have you surrender to your emotions and issues as they arise.
The pit fall for many people is the understanding that everything we do is not sin. But, the word tells us to lay aside every weight and sin that easily besets us. The word beset(s) can be translated as: hinder, hold back, or cause to fall. This lets us know that the weights in our lives have the potential to evolve into issues that keep us from moving forward. The word says he wants us spirit, soul, and body. Therefore, this includes every aspect of our lives individually and collectively as the body of Christ. Why? So God can be glorified in the earth! God can not be glorified in a servant whose light is only bright when it is convenient for them!
You will not always find a scripture that says Do Not Do (?). We must come to the point where we can also depend on Holy Spirit to guide us in our daily lives when we deal with these issues. If you will allow it, Holy Spirit intercedes with your spirit man and will help you. But, we must also understand that by not reaching God’s expectations for our lives, it is also unacceptable to the King. Remember, Holy Spirit knows what God has for your life. He also knows what can hinder your personal walk with God.
We as believers still make excuses like, “The bible did not say that I couldn’t do!!! Let’s put down excuses. Let's be real with ourselves. We need to stop entertaining our flesh. You know you have no business doing a lot of the things you do. The word says plainly that the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit man. This plainly means that he will guide us into ALL TRUTH.
Soooo, The real question is are you willing to allow your life to be used by God for HIS glory? If yes, then it's time to ask yourself what your motive is for the things you desire to do. Can God be seen through it? Will he be pleased? This will give you guidelines to weigh what others are saying as it pertains to God being Glorified in your life.
